Same-day delivery in Belgium: why Amazon sellers—and especially arbitrage sellers—will benefit from it!

Amazon has just announced a plan for a historic investment of more than €1 billion in Belgium between 2025 and 2027.

The goal: strengthen its local infrastructure, accelerate warehouse automation and offer same-day delivery to a growing share of the Belgian population.

For consumers, this is a revolution in convenience.

For Amazon sellers—and even more so for us, arbitrage sellers—this is a direct opportunity: greater customer proximity, more conversions and unprecedented inventory turnover speed.

One billion euros to bring the customer closer to the product

This announcement was made alongside a Belgian economic mission to California.

Amazon outlined a more than €1 billion investment plan over two years to modernise local logistics and industrialise same-day delivery.

The group will rely on Bpost for last-mile delivery and plans to integrate more robotic technologies into its distribution centres.

The company says it has already invested nearly €800 million since 2015 in Belgium and employs around 400 people in the country.

This new plan represents Amazon’s largest investment in Belgium to date.

For Amazon, the message is clear: remaining number one worldwide means getting as close as possible to European customers.

And when Amazon advances, all FBA sellers benefit from its logistics power.

Concerned retailers… but winning marketplace sellers

Some voices are already being raised.

The president of the Union des Classes Moyennes (UCM) reacted by describing the announcement as a “further nail in the coffin of traditional retail”.

A legitimate concern: Amazon’s speed and reliability draw more customers to e-commerce every day.

But for us, third-party sellers, it is exactly the opposite.

The more Amazon invests in its infrastructure, the more visible, faster and more attractive our offers become.

We benefit directly from the trust Amazon inspires: when a customer knows they can receive their product the same day, they buy without hesitation.

The marketplace then becomes a commercial motorway: Amazon builds the road, and we drive on it.

Why this logistics acceleration changes everything

Same-day delivery is more than a marketing service.

It is a game changer in purchasing behaviour.

    • Customers see the platform as more reliable and more premium.
    • The waiting time disappears, greatly reducing cart abandonment.
    • Impulse purchases increase: customers order a product that is “useful now” rather than “soon”.
    • Product listings bearing the “Delivery today” or “Received tonight” label see their conversion rate soar.

And all of this automatically benefits FBA sellers.

You have nothing to reinvent: Amazon invests, and you reap the benefits upstream.

    A boon for arbitrage sellers

In the Amazon arbitrage model, the key is inventory turnover speed.

Buy at the right price, resell quickly, reinvest.

With faster delivery, however, cycles turn over faster:

    • Your products reach customers’ hands faster.
    • Sales happen faster, and so do profits.
    • You can reinvest your capital in new products without tying up your stock.

In practical terms: a product bought this week can be resold, delivered and paid for before the next.

This speed of capital turnover is the real engine of growth in arbitrage.

And the more Amazon improves its logistics, the smoother and more profitable your model becomes.

Amazon’s “halo” effect: more customers, more trust

When Amazon strengthens its infrastructure, it is not just speed that improves.

It is the entire ecosystem of trust surrounding the brand:

    • More Prime customers (and therefore more repeat purchases).
    • A flawless user experience.
    • A dominant position in the Belgian market compared with local e-commerce businesses.

Whenever Amazon gains market share, third-party sellers benefit.

Because we sell through Amazon, not against Amazon.

We benefit from its reputation, its traffic and now its extreme speed.

An Amazon victory… and therefore a victory for us

When Amazon invests a billion, it is not just to dominate the market.

It is also about strengthening the chain that connects sellers with end consumers.

Every new fulfilment centre, every robot added, every local partnership such as the one with Bpost makes the system faster, more accurate and more profitable.

And that is what many people forget: we are not victims of the Amazon machine—we are its strategic partners.

Physical retailers will see this announcement as a threat.

We marketplace sellers see a wider motorway to our customers.

    In conclusion

Amazon’s investment in Belgium is a strong signal:

e-commerce is entering an era where speed is becoming the norm.

For arbitrage sellers, it is a rare opportunity: Amazon is spending billions to build the infrastructure we need.

We simply need to learn how to use it intelligently.

The closer Amazon gets to customers, the better our business performs.

And if Amazon remains number one, it is also because it brings along a whole generation of independent sellers who know how to seize these opportunities!
